well what can i say. sometimes people have to go through life living by other people's rules, and not your own. like if your girlfriend hates you flirting then you stop, out of respect for her. and vice versa. well... all things being said, lets just put this thing behind like sensible, mature adults. and also because its my blog and i wanna blog without feeling awkward. so there.
i finally gave tuition today, after being income-less for so long. she's actually quite an ok student, SUPER hardworking compared to the last one. or maybe its only cuz she's a girl. anyway, her mom is like so kancheong over everything... she called for a tutor immediately when her daughter did badly for just one test. hello? your daughter is in triple science and this is the first year she's exposed to comprehensions that don't start with "one day, Johnny went for a walk and found a frog." or something. she even asked to see my certs and all. but the good thing is that the girl seems very interested in her work, so i don't think we'll be havin any problems with work.
oh but she's so cute, she wrote a little composition titled "pleasure and pain" that she had already handed in to her teacher in school and forced me to read it. her mom had already corrected her draft somemore. she kept asking me to read it and saying "its so funny, this compo is so funny" [yeah i know, not shy, right?] but anyway, she was writing abt a girl who was beautiful and smart and under a lot of stress because of it [in my mind i was wondering if she was talking about herself and then i hoped to God she wasn't cuz...] the girl in her story went to ask for advice from her boyfriend, and her boyfriend told her to relieve stress by havin sex with him! [cue: student laughing, saying "so funny right??" cue me: horrified] goodness, she's only sec 3. well in the end the character got preg as they all do, and she found help with the school councillor and parents and yadda yadda kept the baby and all. Singapore really did a good job, the kids are all so civic minded now, they know the exact route to take when they're in trouble. and i'm not saying this out of one incident, she wrote another essay bout a fella called nick who was abusing drugs and "learnt how to say no" in the end.
i wonder what happened to us when we're so simple and law-abiding as kids and so hating singapore at this age. what inbetween went wrong. maybe its just fashionable to be non-patriotic. NOT.
