Skinny models get banned from fashion show in Madrid. (click here to read full story)
main gist of article: "Madrid's fashion week has turned away underweight models after protests that girls and young women were trying to copy their rail-thin looks and developing eating disorders."
i wonder who will model for the show in the end - those that DO make it because they aren't two-dimensional are likely to forever be branded as "the-fat-model-that-did-the-Madrid-show", no?
models and modelling agencies are outraged, but i'm sure the designers are fuming, too. "what?! how is this SACK of LARD (who's probably all of 40kg and 2m tall) supposed to make my divine creation look fabulous on the runway?"
personally, i think it'll be worse - the models that do take the stage in the end will STILL be skinny, and the organiser's (i must admit, noble) effort to stop this skeletal-is-beautiful mindset will backfire, somewhat. in the end, we're just going to think: "so THIS is supposedly normal weight?! OMG."
